In a surprise move, Vladimir Putin has released his Chief of Staff Sergei Ivanov from his position which he has held for more than four years. While in official channels this is being portrayed as a mutual agreement between the two, others are saying Ivanov has been fired. Ivanov's replacement will be his former deputy Anton Vaino while Ivanov will assume the role of "special representative" in matters of environmental protection and transport.
