Russian president Vladimir Putin sharply criticized the United States for its recent investigations concerning corruption and money-laundering among FIFA officials. Putin stated that it was another attempt by the United States to meddle in the affairs of other nations. Putin is a firm supporter of FIFA's president and Russia is scheduled to host the World Cup in 2018.
