As fighting continues in the Donbass and tensions rise in Crimea, Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko instructed his Ministry of Foreign Affairs to reach out to the Russian president to engage in trilateral talks. Poroshenko wanted to discuss the tensions in the region and attempt to stop the fighting in the east.
