On December 3, Al Arabiya reported that Egypt opened the Rafah border crossing with Gaza for two days to allow for the transportation of people who are stuck on either side of the border. This was the first time that Egypt has opened the crossing in months. According to some sources, the opening bypassed Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip.
