Espionage has been used by governments since ancient times to obtain intelligence, whether it be political or military. Spy games between the world’s great powers have defined much of our time and continue to make headlines. In the first installment of this course, you will prepare to read Russian-language media reporting on high-profile spying incidents, including the Maria Butina scandal, a suspected spy working at the US embassy, and an American held in Russia on espionage claims.
