Yemen’s last Jews arrive in Israel

Lesson Brief Galei Zahal
On March 21, Israeli media reported that 17 members of Yemen's remaining Jewish community were secretly brought to Israel and reunited with their families. Yemen has one of the oldest Jewish communities in the world, which is believed to date back to the First Temple period. Over the years, the majority of Yemen's Jewish community has left the country as a result of increasing attacks against the Jewish community and general instability. The Yemeni Jews who arrived in Israel brought a 500-year old Torah with them.
