US to Station Heavy Weaponry in Baltic States and Eastern Europe
Lesson Brief
Regnum Information Agency
The New York Times reported today that the United States is preparing to deploy three to five thousand troops, heavy weaponry, and tanks to the Baltic States and Eastern European nations, including Poland, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria. The deployment will require the approval of both the Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter, as well as President Obama. If approved, it will be the first time that US tanks, artillery, and large numbers of soldiers will be stationed in a former-USSR member state.
