Uncovering the Government Building Crucial to Israel’s Independence – Part 2

Lesson Brief NRG
On April 22nd, NRG reported on a Mikor Rishon publication which after intesnive research led the author to discover the building in which the privisional government and the provisional state council were established. Due to the British Mandate and international law, Israel was not officially allowed to name its own government bodies. Instead, the government used the basement hall of a school for Mizrachi girls to discuss different members joining the government and other important management and administrative details of the forming government. This article is very difficult so take your time. Remember that a יישוב is a type of community in Israel that was especially popular during the time period of the creation of the state as well as post-independence.
