Three Soviet-Era Monuments Taken Down in Kharkov

Lesson Brief BBC Russian

Late on Saturday night, masked men dislodged three Soviet-era monuments in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkov. The men were not authorized to do so but in the end, law enforcement did not stop them. The act came just days after Ukraine’s parliament issued a law outlawing Communist and Nazi propaganda inside the country.
