The Lives of Jews in Syria, Yemen, and Iraq
Lesson Brief
hidabroot.org
For thousands of years, Jewish communities thrived in the Middle East and in countries that are today Syria, Iraq, Egypt and Yemen. However, decades of religious and political persecution have dwindled these communities to no more than a few dozen individuals in some countries and hundreds in others. In this set, you will read an article that details the lives of the Middle East's remaining Jews, most of whom are elderly and stayed behind while others left due to their age and other considerations. The attached video is of an Israeli reporter in Syria searching for details on what was once one of the most thriving Jewish communities in the Middle East.
