Teva To Buy Pharmaceutical Company
Lesson Brief
Calcalist
On April 21st, Calcalist reported on the hostile acquisitions offer by Teva, an Israeli pharmaceutical company, to buy Mylan for $40 million. Half of the acquisition will be paid in stocks and half in cash. Teva claims that this is a natural move and that there is significant potential for creating future value commercially and financially. It is also a preferable alternative to being bought by Perrigo. If this succeds, however, Teva will have a massive presence in the generic pharmaceutical field.
This set deals with a bunch of technical business terms such as ענקית התרופות - "pharmaceutical company" which could easily be confused with the word for "giant" . מניות - "stocks" and מזומן - "cash" are two terms that are used throughout as well as עסקה - "deal, business transaction".
