Tensions Escalate with Hezbollah on Israel’s Northern Border

Lesson Brief Maariv
On January 28th, Maariv reported on the rising tensions on Israel's northern border with Lebanon, as Hezbollah antitank fire hit Israeli military vehicles. 7 soldiers were injured and two were killed. Mortars were also fired into Israel and Israel responded by firing on a number of targets inside Lebanon. In readiness for further escalation, residents of the kibbutzim near the border were advised to remain in their houses, close to protected areas. This news comes after the previous days' news of rockets fired from Syria into Israel, and an Israeli attack in Syria that killed Hezbollah members and an Iranian general.
