State of Emergency Extended in Sinai

Lesson Brief BBC Arabic
On January 25, BBC Arabic reported that the Egyptian government has extended the state of emergency in place in Northern Sinai Province for an additional 3 months. The state of emergency had been imposed in October after attacks by armed men against Egyptian soldiers. The announcement comes as protests by supporters of Mohammed Morsi broke out throughout the country on the anniversary of the revolution that ended the regime of Hosni Mubarak.
