Russia to Supply Syrian Government New Anti-Aircraft Weapons

Lesson Brief Al Arabiya
On November 6, Al Arabiya reported that Syrian Foreign Minister Waleed Muallem has claimed that Russia will soon be providing the Syrian regime with S-300 long-range anti-aircraft weapons. The transaction has not yet happened, but Muallem is confident it is "just around the corner." The weapons are not to fight the rebels, but out of concern for a change in U.S. policy in Syria following the victories of Republican candidates in the midterm elections.
