Putin Signs Controversial “Anti-Terror” Law

Vladimir Putin signed into a law a controversial new bill supposedly intended to curb the spread of terrorism inside Russia. Among the more alarming aspects of the new law is a requirement for mobile operators to keep logs of all user data, including audio and text messaging records. Mobile companies in Russia have warned that this will be very expensive to do and user fees will undoubtedly go up as a result.
