Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko announced on Monday that he is prepared to hold a referendum on the decentralization  of power in several of Ukraine's eastern regions which currently identify as self-declared "people's republics." Poroshenko also announced that he is confident more than 90% of Ukrainians wish to have a unitary governmental system in Ukraine. He also emphasized that he stands against the federalization of these areas, and that federalization is very different from decentralization.
