Pentagon Official Names Russia as Largest Threat
Lesson Brief
BBC Russian
Joseph Dunford, nominee to become Joint Chiefs of Staff, has declared Russia to be America's biggest threat to national security during a Senate hearing. He cited Russia's involvement in the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine, its repeated violations of NATO airspace, and repeated threats against its European neighbors as his reasoning for this assessment. The White House, in a response, was not so quick to draw the same conclusion as Danford, but still emphasized the increased threat Russia has presented in recent months.
