The Dead Sea, located in both Israel and Jordan, is the lowest point on earth and known for its extreme salinity. Thousands of people from around the world visit the Dead Sea every year to float and for its various skin products. In this two-part set, you will learn about a 2011 project in Israel to save the Dead Sea and prevent hotel flooding. In recent years, the Dead Sea has been rapidly shrinking because of the diversion of water from the Jordan River in the north. The attached video combines the discussion of saving the Dead Sea with economic interests that have led to its deteriorating situation.
