Part 2: Doctors warn that cigarette company Phillip Morris is turning Israelis into lab rats

Lesson Brief TheMarker
Israeli doctors are warning that tobacco giant Phillip Morris is turning Israelis into lab rats by investing a fortune into a new e-cigarette, which still could pose considerable health risks. Doctors have warned that the new product, known as the iQOS, emits harmful chemicals through its steam emissions while Phillip Morris claims that the e-cigarette reduces dangerous chemicals from smoking by 90 percent. The tobacco company has already launched an intense media campaign to penetrate the Israeli market, and one fear in Israel is that the campaign will make Israeli youths think that smoking is an acceptable practice, especially in public places. An Israeli non-profit organization has already filed a petition to the High Court over the Health Ministry's decision to exempt the iQOS from regulation until the U.S. FDA formally regulates the product.
