Morning Rush Hour Attack in Tel Aviv

Lesson Brief Calcalist
On January 21st, Calcalist reported on the morning rush hour stabbing attack on Tel Aviv passenger bus. 13 people were injured and the assailant was stopped as he attempted to flee on foot. Members of the prison service saw him fleeing the scene, shot him in the legs, and held him until the police arrived. Security Minister Yizthak Aharonavich indicated that the attacker may be an illegal immigrant. The attack was praised by Hamas, who was quick to support the violent action. This was the first major attack since a string of violence against Israelis in October and November. Israeli media reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu laid responsibility for the attack on the Palestinian leadership.
