Mikhail Prokhorov May Leave Political Party
Lesson Brief
Ведомости
Mikhail Prokhorov, the Russian oligarch and owner of the Brooklyn Nets, may leave the political party he created during his campaign for the Russian presidency in 2012 over the party's participation in an "Antimaidan" march in Moscow over the weekend. The purpose of the event, held in conjunction with the one-year anniversary of the most violent days of the Euromaidan demonstrations in Kiev, was voice opposition to the revolutionary spirit in Ukraine and other former Soviet republics. Prokhorov, displeased with the decision of some party leaders to participate in the march, called an emergency meeting to discuss the future place of the party within Russia's opposition.
