Michel Aoun voted in as Lebanon’s president

Lesson Brief Sky News Arabia
On October 31, former Lebanese General and the leader of the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) Michel Aoun was elected by Lebanon's parliament to be the country's new president. Aoun is a Christian but also an ally of the Shia Hezbollah movement. His election is seen as a power play by Tehran, which funds Hezbollah, and also as a sign of declining Sunni and Saudi influence in the country's politics.
