Listening Drill: Turkey moves tomb of Suleyman Shah
Lesson Brief
In February 2015, hundreds of Turkish forces entered Syria to move the 13th century tomb of Suleyman Shah closer to the Syria border with Turkey. Suleyman Shah was the grandfather of the Ottoman Empire's founder Osman I. The action came after ISIS militants threatened to attack the tomb, which Turkey considers sovereign territory. The Syrian government strongly condemned the incursion.
