Lebanon, World Bank Sign Water-Project Loan Agreements

Lesson Brief As Safir
On January 21, As Safir reported that Lebanese and World Bank officials inked two loan agreements intended to support two major water development projects in the country. The first project is the construction of the Bisri Dam, intended to provide clean water and, with two attached power plants, electricity. The second project is intended to reform water management in Lebanon. The deals were reached despite an ongoing political crisis in the country, which has been without a president for months, as well as continued concerns about security in the country.
