Israeli Soldiers Suffering from PTSD after Gaza Campaign
Lesson Brief
Maan
On March 4, Maan News, citing a report published in Israel HaYom, discussed the prevalence of PTSD among Israeli soldiers who participated in Operation Protective Edge, the 2014 Israeli military campaign in Gaza. According to the report, 350 soldiers received psychological treatment, particularly those who witnessed traumatizing incidents. The report, however, attributed the high number to military psychologists taking the initiative and making themselves readily available even during the campaign. Some soldiers were able to return to their duties relatively quickly; for others the process is longer. The article does not use the accepted expression for PTSD, اضطراب ما بعد الصدمة.
