Israeli Mission to Save an Endangered Baby Vulture
Lesson Brief
Ynet
On June 9th, Ynet reported on the successful rescue of a young vulture whose parents had been poisoned. The rescue rappelled down to the 150 meter high precipice and captured the young bird and brought the bird to a facility which will care for it for the next few years. In order for the bird to be able to return to the wild, the feeding apparatus is built to look like a real vulture, limiting human contact with the bird. When it is ready, the bird will be set free with other young vultures to ensure a successful return to the wild.
This set is a great introduction to wildlife preservation in Israel and heavily utilizes vocabulary relating to wildlife and wildlife preservation.
