On June 27, NRG reported that an Israeli lifeguard discovered an ancient oil lamp while on his morning run. The lifeguard immediately contacted the Antiquities Authority, who dated the lamp to the crusader period. According to the Antiquities Authority, the lamp was uncovered as a result of natural cliff erosion near the beach of Ashkelon and attested to the city's rich cultural history.
