Israel Prize Winners Announced
Lesson Brief
NRG
On March 30th, NRG reported that the Ministry of Education chose two winners of the Israel Prize, Chaim Topol and Esther Herlitz. Haim Topol is known for such famous roles as Salah Shabati and Tevia (from Fiddler on the Roof) as well as many others. Esther Herlitz was a poineer and revolutionary for many women and was accompanied throughout her service as an ambassador and a Knesset member by her will to contribute to Israeli society and the state. Both individuals continue to be active in contributing to the better development of society to this day.
Some interesting vocabulary in this set is the use of חתן - "groom" and כלה - "bride" to note the prizewinners of the Israel Prize. Also להטביע חותם - "to leave one's impression on something" and חשוך מרפה - "incurable" are two uncommon phrases to learn well.
