Israel and Jordan Sign Water Agreement

Lesson Brief AFP / An Nahar
On February 26, AFP (here via An Nahar) reported that Jordan and Israel have signed an agreement to undertake a bold water project to revitalize the dying Dead Sea. The Dead Sea's water level has been decreasing steadily for years, and the project would be a joint effort to build a canal from the Red Sea. The Red Sea water is to be desalinized and then fed into the historic salt lake. The deal reportedly contains provisions for potable water to be transferred to Jordan and the Palestinian Territories.
