Iraqi army takes control of Western Mosul

On February 19, the Iraqi army regained control of parts of Western Mosul in the continuing battle to wrest control of the city away from ISIS. The operation to reclaim the villages came hours after Iraq's prime minister announced the launch of the operation. Last month, the Iraqi army managed to liberate Eastern Mosul from ISIS after heavy battles that saw many civilian casualties.
