How the Baltics are Getting Off Russian Electricity

Lesson Brief TUT.BY
Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, the major issue on the table for the Baltic States was energy independence from Russia. It has always been a creeping issue, and it is now the most important issue in the region. The three Baltic States, along with Poland and Sweden made themselves a significantly more independent last week with the opening of electricity cables under the sea and with Poland. This, along with a liquid natural gas terminal and the potential for a new nuclear power plant in the region, will make the region significantly less dependent on Russia for energy.
