Historic Water Deal Signed between Israel and Jordan

Lesson Brief Ynet
On February 26, Ynet reported on the historic agreement between Israel and Jordan to build a canal from the Dead Sea to the Red Sea. The canal will alleviate some of the water problem in the region and will be funded mainly on donations. The US ambassador to Jordan and Deputy Ambassador to Israel were present at the signing of the agreement and will help raise funds for the project from other countries. Part of the agreement dictates that a joint administration will plan the expenditures for the building of the desalination facility on the Jordanian side. This agreement is the most historic achievement between Israel and Jordan since the 1994 peace treaty.
