Gulf Coalition Launching Airstrikes in Yemen

Lesson Brief BBC Arabic
On March 26, 2015, BBC Arabic reported on the bombing of Houthi strongholds in Yemen by a coalition of Gulf Arab states, led by Saudi Arabia. This military campaign has been called عاصفة الحزم, which is already wreaking havoc for translators, so far being interpreted as Decisive Storm, Storm of Resolve, Determination Storm, reflecting the various ways الحزم can be rendered (my vote, as Arabic linguists, just call itعاصفة الحزم until the media settles on something). Early reports indicate the strikes have targeted Houthi military facilities and bases. Iran, which supports the Houthi movement, has condemned the strikes, while the US has acknowledged providing logistical support.
