Former Mayor Receives 12.5-Year Sentence

A former mayor of the Russian city Yaroslavl has been sentenced to 12.5 years in a penal colony on corruption charges. Yevgeniy Urlashov was accused of soliciting 18 million rubles from a local businessman in 2013. At the time of his arrest in 2013, Urlashov was the only mayor in Russia serving from an opposition party.
