Basra Officials Complain of Lessened Oil Profit Shares

Lesson Brief Al Sumaria
On December 29, Al Sumaria reported that the Basra local government's financial oversight committee criticized the Iraqi central government's oil profit sharing plan, claiming it would reduce the province's income by IQD 4 trillion (about USD 3.4 billion) in 2015. The committee said the oil-rich province stands to receive one dollar per barrel of oil sold in the coming year instead of five dollars.
