Audio Drill: The Siloam Tunnel
Lesson Brief
The Siloam Tunnel, also known as Hezekiah's Tunnel, is a water tunnel that runs under the City of David in Jerusalem and is believed to date back to the reign of King Hezekiah of Judah. According to the Bible, Hezekiah ordered the construction of the tunnel to divert water from the Assyrian army in the event of a siege. The tunnel is an engineering feat due to the fact that two teams of stonecutters worked opposite one another until meeting in the middle. The tunnel is open for tours if you ever find yourself in the City of David.
