Arkady Rotenberg, a personal friend of Russian President Vladimir Putin and multi-billionaire, had his bank accounts and assets frozen by the Italian government. According to Italian news sources, the government seized his hotels, villas, and bank accounts to prevent "financial terrorism and activities of a country that threatens international peace and security." Rotenberg has the right to dispute and appeal the seizures by the government.
