On August 16, Al Sharq Al Awsat reported n the findings of a study conducted by the Arab Monetary fund which reported that youth unemployment in the Arab world is at 28 percent. The study found that progress made in the early 2000s was stymied by the global financial crisis of 2008. The study went on to outline the state of Arab economies, promising signs, and areas requiring improvement, such as incentives for private sector enterprises and a focus on sectors of the economy where youth can best contribute, such as IT.
