On December 21, Israeli media reported on a violent anti-Semitic attack in Ukraine against a local synagogue. Worshippers reported that thugs broke into the synagogue with tear gas and spray paint, and commenced to spray tear gas on the people inside. The men also through the head of a pig into the synagogue. In response to the incident, Israeli opposition chairman Yitzhak Herzog announced that he would demand answers from the Ukrainian prime minister on steps that the country will take to protect Jews.
