Amnesty International Labels 2014 “Catastrophic”

In its annual report, human rights organization Amnesty International categorized the year 2014 as "catastrophic," claiming that governments around the world proved ineffective of protect millions of people from potentially violent deaths. The report was especially critical of global institutions such as the United Nations Security Council and the European Union for their inability to halt mass atrocities around the world. The organization also highlighted the dire situation of millions of refugees around the world as a result of civil unrest.
